Hamdaoui Admits Flaws in the "Greens"
National coach Ibrahim Hamdaoui pointed out an area that needs improvement following Algeria's 2-2 draw with Burundi, specifically regarding the use of wings in building attacks.
Hamdaoui stated in an interview with the official website of the Algerian Football Federation: “We did not utilize the wings as we should have, which we did well against Zambia, but this is the nature of the match, and this is the context of today's game.”
The national coach believes that the nature of the match and the circumstances faced by the "Greens" from the start affected the team's style of play, especially after falling behind by two goals.
Hamdaoui also admitted that the Algerian team did not display the attacking level they aimed for against Burundi, particularly with the defensive block employed by the opponent after taking the lead.
He explained: “I hoped we would create more attacking opportunities and control the game better, so we will settle for the draw.”
He added: “We were capable of scoring from a set piece, but I believe we could have performed better against this defensive block, but we were not decisive enough.”
