Hamdani: “Scoring from set pieces is an additional tool, not a sign of failure”
National coach Ibrahim Hamdani defended the national team's use of set pieces to score goals against Burundi and Niger, stating that scoring in this manner does not indicate the team's failure to create opportunities.
The national coach explained: “Scoring from set pieces does not mean failing to create real scoring chances; rather, it is an additional and positive tool.”
He acknowledged the challenges faced against Niger both defensively and offensively during the first half, confirming that the coaching staff has opened several workshops to address these issues, in addition to giving opportunities to new players.
The national coach also discussed the physical condition of some players, noting that certain players, like Cherki, faced physical difficulties. He emphasized that the coaching staff did not risk playing him against Niger to protect him.
Hamdani added that the defensive workshop is “large and ongoing,” and that he will continue to experiment with many players, especially young ones, to find suitable solutions in the future.
