Hamdaoui to Announce Squad Today with Expected Returns of Several Names

National coach Ibrahim Hamdaoui is set to unveil his squad this Thursday evening ahead of the international break scheduled from September 21 to October 6.

Algerian fans are eager to learn the list Hamdaoui will announce during the press conference at 15:00 in the Mohamed Salah Hall at the “Nelson Mandela” Stadium in Baraki.

This is especially true with the potential return of several players who missed the last squads for the “Greens,” as the team is without the retired duo of Riyad Mahrez and Aissa Mandi following the 2026 World Cup.

The squad is expected to include some changes compared to the one that participated in the World Cup, particularly given the recent performances of players like Bashir Belloumi in the English league, Amin Chikha in the Norwegian league, and Kevin Guiton in Belgium.

It is worth noting that the national team will play its first two matches in the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations at the end of September.

The matches will begin with a home game against Zambia on September 25 at the “Hussein Ait Ahmed” Stadium in Tizi Ouzou, followed by a match against Burundi on September 29 at the “Intwari” Stadium in Bujumbura.

Hamdaoui's team will also face Niger in a friendly match at the “Hussein Ait Ahmed” Stadium in Tizi Ouzou on the last day of the international break, October 6.
