Moroccan coach Hussein Amouta and his assistant staff return to Cairo today, Sunday, to lead the team's training starting tomorrow, Monday, after the players enjoyed a 4-day break following their victory over Abu Qir for Fertilizers. They traveled back to their home countries during the team's recent break.
Al Ahly Prepares for the Cairo Cup
Al Ahly is gearing up for a series of challenges in the Egyptian Premier League, as well as the Cairo Cup and the CAF Confederation Cup, prompting the coaching staff to utilize the international break to prepare the available players and enhance their fitness levels. Al Ahly currently sits third in the Egyptian Premier League table with 13 points from 4 wins and 1 draw, trailing behind leaders Pyramids and second-placed Zamalek, who are level on points but ahead on goal difference.
Amouta's Requests at Al Ahly
On another note, Moroccan coach Hussein Amouta has urged Al Ahly's management to strengthen the defense with two strong signings during the upcoming winter transfer window in January, due to the challenging circumstances facing the team's backline because of recurring injuries.
Amouta discussed with Al Ahly's management in recent hours the challenges the team's defense is facing, notably the injury of Amr El-Gazzar, who suffered a torn ACL, as well as Yasser Ibrahim's ankle sprain, in addition to the absence of Moroccan defender Youssef Belaïli, who suffered a torn ACL during the preseason preparations.
The Al Ahly coach assured the club's management of his complete confidence in the defenders currently on the roster and their technical abilities, emphasizing his reliance on them. However, the difficult circumstances and injuries affecting the backline recently necessitate strengthening the team with new elements.
