With a promising start to the season at Mantova, Fahem Benaïssa-Yahia shone again this weekend. The Franco-Algerian is included in L'Équipe's Team of the Week, while his future on the international stage remains uncertain.

Fahem Benaïssa-Yahia continues to make a name for himself in Italy. The Franco-Algerian full-back for Mantova was selected by L'Équipe in their ideal eleven of the weekend, following his performance in the 3-1 victory against Catanzaro. This is another recognition for a player who is gradually establishing himself as a reliable asset in Serie B.

As a starter, Benaïssa-Yahia particularly stood out by providing an assist for Mantova's second goal. In the 34th minute, he set up Francesco Ruocco, allowing his team to take the lead before ultimately securing the three points.

Since the start of the season, the 24-year-old has been a starter in the first six rounds of Serie B, accumulating a total of 540 minutes of play. He has recorded one goal and one assist in the league. He has also played in both matches of the Coppa Italia contested by Mantova.

The question of his international future remains to be clarified. As a Franco-Algerian who has never played for a senior national team, Benaïssa-Yahia has not yet publicly disclosed his choice between the two nations. At 24 years old and with performances starting to attract attention, his case could quickly become interesting for the Greens.
