Jordan secures a draw in the first match under coach Hassan Zaki.

The Syrian national football team drew 1-1 with their Jordanian hosts today in an international friendly held at the King Abdullah II Stadium in Amman.

Ali Alwan opened the scoring for Jordan in the 38th minute with a stunning shot from outside the box that found the bottom left corner of goalkeeper Elyas Hadiya's net, bringing his international tally to 31 goals with the "Shabab Al-Nashama" team.

Jan Mustafa equalized for Syria after breaking through on goal, firing a low shot into the middle of the net in the 52nd minute.

This match marked Jordan's first performance under Moroccan coach Badou Zaki, who took over two months ago after the dismissal of his compatriot Jamal Salami following an early exit from the 2026 World Cup.

Jordan is set to face Venezuela in a second friendly match during this international window on October 6 at the same venue.

The Jordanian team is preparing for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup with two friendly matches against Indonesia and Australia on November 13 and 17, also in Amman.

Jordan will compete in the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, scheduled from January 7 to February 5, in Group B alongside Uzbekistan, Bahrain, and North Korea, while Syria is in Group C with Iran, Kyrgyzstan, and China.
