The match between the national U20 football team and their Tunisian counterparts ended in a goalless draw on Sunday evening at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium in Ismailia, as part of the second round of the North African Union qualifiers for the U20 Africa Cup of Nations (Ghana 2027).
The North African U20 qualifiers feature five teams: Egypt (the host country), along with Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, and Libya. The top two teams will qualify for the U20 Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana.
In Sunday’s matches, the Algerian team secured a 3-1 victory over Libya in the second round of the North African U20 qualifiers.
The Egyptian U20 football team was exempt from participating in the second round of the qualifiers, while the Moroccan team enjoyed a rest day during the first round.
In the third round, Morocco will face Algeria on September 30 at the same stadium, followed by a much-anticipated match against Egypt in the fourth round on October 3 at the Suez Canal Stadium, before concluding their participation with a match against Libya on October 6 in Ismailia.
The tournament runs from September 24 to October 6, featuring a single round-robin format. Each team will play four matches, with each team benefiting from a rest day during one of the rounds. The top two teams will qualify for the U20 Africa Cup of Nations.
