Kaïl Boudache: "My goal is the World Cup with Algeria"

The breakout star of the season with Olympique Lyonnais, Kaïl Boudache, clearly expresses his attachment to Algeria and already dreams of wearing the national team's jersey one day.

Kaïl Boudache does not hide his ambitions, both at the club and national team level. At just 20 years old, the promising forward of Olympique Lyonnais already aspires to reach the top, with a clear goal in mind: to represent Algeria on the most prestigious international stage one day. “My dream is to participate in major competitions like the Champions League, but also to play in the World Cup with Algeria,” he shared.

When asked what he would think of a call from Zinedine Zidane, the future coach of the French national team, Boudache was adamant. “If Zidane contacted me? It would still be Algeria, it’s my country,” he stated. This choice is also based on a strong family connection to his roots.

The Lyon player also wanted to mention his ties to Kabylie. “I go to Kabylie every summer with my family. We return there to recharge; we come from this region,” he explained. This shows that his attachment to Algeria goes far beyond mere sports.

However, on the field, Boudache is aware that he still has a lot to learn. A player of pace and penetration, he acknowledges that he needs to mature in his decision-making. “It’s my style to attack constantly; I’ve always played this way,” he explains, while admitting that he sometimes needs to know when to hold back. A raw talent who does not hide his ambition: to progress with OL before, perhaps, forging his story with the national team.
