Younes Ben Taleb, striker for Eintracht Frankfurt, stated that coach Jürgen Klopp played a pivotal role in his decision to represent the German national team instead of Morocco.

Klopp is set to lead the German national team for the first time in their opening match of the UEFA Nations League against the Netherlands next Thursday.

Ben Taleb remarked: “It’s a fantastic experience, a really great feeling. Klopp is one of the best coaches in the world. There is indeed a positive atmosphere within the team.”

Ben Taleb, who is 23 years old, had discussions with Morocco's "Lions of the Atlas" coach, Mohamed Wahbi; however, he added: “When Klopp calls you, you have to respond.”

He explained: “I love both countries, as they represent my roots, and I will always wish Morocco all the success.”

The coach has shared his expectations with the players, as Ben Taleb said: “He simply wants us to be proud to represent the German national team and to give our best, even in tough times.”

Klopp divided the squad into two groups; Ben Taleb was included in the first group, which will compete against the Netherlands on Thursday and Greece on Sunday.

Ben Taleb is considered the only traditional striker in this group alongside Kai Havertz, increasing the likelihood of his debut with the national team.

He stated: “I don’t have information about that yet. I’m simply focusing on delivering the best performance possible, and I hope to get enough playing time.”

With Frankfurt, he has scored four goals in four Bundesliga matches played so far.

Klopp took over the German national team, succeeding Julian Nagelsmann, and is currently aiming to rebuild the squad that exited the World Cup last summer in the Round of 32.
