Lesotho coach admits to the superiority of the "Atlas Lions."

Bob Mafoso, the head coach of the Lesotho national team, acknowledged Morocco's superiority during the match between the two teams on Tuesday evening at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein, as part of the second round of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Mafoso explained in the post-match press conference that individual differences played a significant role in determining the outcome of the game, emphasizing that "quality prevailed and logic was respected," referring to the capabilities of the Moroccan team.

Despite the 2-0 defeat, the Lesotho coach believed his players performed well tactically and managed to keep up with the Moroccan team at certain stages of the match. However, he also pointed out the need to improve their physical condition, stressing that his team still needs to develop this aspect.

Mafoso also noted that the lack of experience among his players affected their performance against a well-organized Moroccan team, known for its cohesion and ability to regain possession, making it more challenging for Lesotho to maintain their balance during the match.

The Moroccan team secured the victory with a score of 2-0, with Ibrahim Diaz opening the scoring in the 45th minute, followed by Azeddine Ounahi adding the second goal in the 82nd minute.

With this victory, the "Atlas Lions" increased their points tally to six from two matches, continuing to lead Group A, awaiting the result of the match between Gabon and Niger.

The Moroccan national team will return to the qualifiers during the third and fourth rounds, scheduled between November 11 and 17, where they will host Niger before visiting them for the second match.
