Modest Results for Algeria's Youth at the World Karate Championship
The Algerian karate team concluded its participation in the World Age Group Championship today, Sunday, held in Bielsko-Biała, Poland, with 26 athletes, failing to secure any medals. The best results were two fifth-place finishes.
The best Algerian results came from Aqqou M'sila, who placed fifth in the kata category for the cadet division, and Rizq Allah Serin, who also finished fifth in the under-66 kg category for the youth division.
The national team recorded the following results:
- Dhi Mahdi: seventh place in the under-61 kg category for the youth division.
- Masilya Louni: seventh place in the under-55 kg category for the under-21 division.
- Gouri Abdelrazak: seventh place in the under-84 kg category for the under-21 division.
- Rwaishi Aicha: ninth place in the over-68 kg category for the under-21 division.
The remaining Algerian athletes were eliminated at various stages of the competition, leaving the delegation without a podium finish.
With these results, Algeria could not replicate its achievement from the 2022 Turkey edition, which is considered its best performance in the championship's history, having secured fourth place overall with three gold medals.
This outcome presents a challenge for Algerian karate to evaluate its participation and work on improving results in upcoming international competitions, especially given the strong competition in age categories on a global scale.
