The Algerian U23 national team is preparing to face Eswatini in two matches as part of the qualifiers for the Africa U23 Cup of Nations scheduled for 2027, according to the schedule announced by the Algerian Football Federation.

The Olympic team will play the first leg on November 11 at 3 PM at the Somhlolo National Stadium in Lobamba, Eswatini.

The return leg will take place on November 16 at 6 PM at the 5 July 1962 Stadium in the capital.

The national Olympic team aims to achieve a positive result in the away match before playing in front of its fans in the return leg, in order to secure qualification and continue its journey in the continental qualifiers.

The qualifiers for the 2027 Africa U23 Cup of Nations will be held over three knockout rounds, with 42 teams competing for seven spots to join Egypt, which qualified automatically as the host of the finals.

After advancing from the first round, the qualified teams, including Algeria, will seek to secure a place in the second round, ultimately aiming for a spot in the third and final round, where the remaining seven spots for the continental tournament will be determined.

Therefore, overcoming Eswatini alone will not be enough to guarantee participation in the finals, as the Algerian team will need to win both matches in the third round or secure qualification based on the aggregate score to reach the Africa Cup of Nations scheduled in Egypt in 2027.

This qualification process gains additional importance, as the 2027 Africa U23 Cup of Nations will be part of the African qualification pathway for the men's football competition at the upcoming Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028.

Thus, the primary goal for the Algerian team is to overcome Eswatini and then secure a spot in the continental finals before competing for one of the African spots qualifying for the Olympics.

The Algerian public is hopeful that the Olympic team will successfully navigate this stage and bring Algerian football back to the Olympic arena, following the men's national team's absence from the previous Olympic Games (Paris 2024).
