After leaving the Algerian league, goalkeeper Gaya Merbah has returned to the Moroccan league, where he previously excelled, and he has already settled back in!

Dismissed from JS Kabylie with the arrival of Alexis Gendouz, despite having served as captain, 32-year-old Gaya Merbah had made his comeback on the pitch after a serious leg fracture that kept him sidelined for 15 months.

Less appreciated in Algeria, never selected for the national team, this player trained at NA Hussein Dey returned this summer to the Moroccan league, where he had already played for two and a half years between 2022 and 2024.

Transferred to Raja Casablanca, he was later loaned out before being sold to Ittihad Tanger, where he delivered very high-level performances, yet he still failed to catch the attention of Djamel Belmadi.

He therefore signed on September 15 with Hassania Agadir and played his first match the day before yesterday in Marrakech against local side Kawkab. His team won the match 3-2 and although he conceded two goals on which he could do little, he also made seven saves.

He showcased the full extent of his goalkeeping skills. Diving with the opposite hand, interventions at the feet, angle management, aerial claims, proving that he remains one of the best Algerian goalkeepers.
