Young Algerian midfielder Mokrane Bentoumi helped his team Roda JC qualify for the Round of 16 in the KNVB Cup.

Practically without playing time since his arrival this summer from Le Havre, the 20-year-old right midfielder scored his first goal for his new club in a crucial moment yesterday.

The diminutive player, who has only played 36 minutes in 7 league matches, likely hoped to be a starter in the Cup, but he only entered the field for the last eight minutes while the score was 0-0 against De Graafschap.

It took just two minutes for the Algerian U21 international to make the difference by scoring the only goal in the 84th minute. He capitalized on a cross-shot from a teammate to place a strike into the side netting.

This goal earned Bentoumi the man of the match award. With this victory, Roda JC is set to face another second division club, Almere, which eliminated Telstar, featuring Algerian defender Soualhia.
