Pablo Franco appointed as the new coach of Esperance Tunis.

Spanish coach Pablo Franco arrived in Tunisia this morning, Saturday, to take over as the head coach of the first football team at Esperance Tunis.

He was welcomed at Tunis-Carthage International Airport by Khalil Chemmam, the former player and current official for the first team, as the 44-year-old coach will complete the contract procedures before starting his duties later today.

Franco succeeds Romanian coach Laurentiu Reghecampf, after the Esperance management reached an agreement with him to lead the team in the upcoming period.

Franco has previous experience in Africa, having coached Tanzanian side Simba and Moroccan club Wydad Fes, with whom he won the Moroccan league title last season.

Esperance currently sits in second place in the Tunisian league standings after four rounds, with nine points, trailing leaders Club Africain on goal difference, who have a postponed match.

The team is also preparing to begin its campaign in the CAF Champions League, where they will face Al-Suwaiq from Libya in the second preliminary round in mid-October.
