Qatar: Djamel Belmadi honored!

Algerian coach Djamel Belmadi has been honored for his excellent start to the season with Al Duhail.
The former Algeria national team coach, who turns 50 today, returns to the forefront with Al Duhail, a club he previously managed from 2010 to 2012 and from 2015 to 2018 before taking over again in 2025.
Between these two periods, he led Qatar and Algeria, achieving notable success by winning the Gulf Cup and the West Asian Cup in 2014 with the former team, and the Africa Cup of Nations with the latter in 2019.
At the club level, he has won nine trophies with Al Duhail, including a treble in 2018, which earned him the title of best coach of the season in Qatar. However, since his return in June 2025, the task has not been easy, with a challenging first season ending in 5th place in the league, an early elimination in the Champions League, and a heavy defeat in the cup semi-final against Al Sadd.
The 2025/2026 season, on the other hand, has started well, as after eight matches, Belmadi's team is tied at the top of the standings with the defending champions and Al Rayyan, and is on a run of eight consecutive victories across all competitions, except for a defeat against NEOM led by Benrahma.
The four wins in October, including the remarkable 3-2 victory against the giant Al Sadd where he expressed his joy, have earned Djamel Belmadi the best coach award for last month in the Qatar Stats League!
