Qatar: Riyad Mahrez set to make his debut?

Just days after announcing his transfer to Al-Shamal, Riyad Mahrez could already make his return to the pitch against Lusail. However, his coach David Prats has warned against taking risks with the Algerian.
Barely a few days after the announcement of his arrival at Al-Shamal, Riyad Mahrez could make his debut in his new colors. The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations champion has signed for one season, with an option for an additional year, and has reclaimed his iconic number 26. After several weeks without a team, the former captain of the Greens is now ready to take on his new Qatari challenge.
This Saturday, Al-Shamal travels to Lusail for the 6th matchday of the Qatar Stars League. Currently sitting fifth with eight points, Al-Shamal will look to bounce back after their heavy 4-0 defeat to Al-Duhail.
The inevitable question is about Mahrez. Will he be in the starting lineup by David Prats? The Spaniard has recently tempered expectations surrounding his new signing: “We will see if he is 100% ready and able to play. We will assess his condition,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of not taking risks with a player who has been away from competitive action for several weeks.
Mahrez has since joined Al-Shamal's collective training, which opens the possibility of a first appearance. It remains to be seen whether Prats will choose to use him tonight, even for a few minutes, or if he will prefer to wait before fielding him in competition.
