Rangers: the situation complicates for Bouanani

After moving to Scotland in hopes of gaining playing time, Badredine Bouanani finds himself in a marginal role with the Rangers. This situation is becoming increasingly concerning for the young Algerian talent.

Badredine Bouanani continues to struggle to achieve the consistency he sought in Scotland. Coming on only in the last four minutes of the Rangers' victory over Kilmarnock (3-1), the Algerian international had to settle for a very limited role once again. This scenario echoes his difficult final months at Stuttgart.

Since his loan to the Rangers in early September, Bouanani has accumulated just 98 minutes of play across four matches in all competitions, with only one start. In his match against St Mirren, he started and played about 60 minutes. He then had 16 minutes against Celtic in the League Cup, followed by 18 minutes during the league derby against the same opponent, before playing just four minutes this past Saturday.

The situation is concerning for a player sent on loan specifically to regain playing time. Stuttgart had presented this move as a crucial step for his development, emphasizing the importance of playing regularly at a high level.

This situation is also starting to have repercussions on the international stage. Bouanani was not selected by Brahim Hemdani for his first gathering as coach of the Greens. With limited playing time at the Rangers, the 21-year-old risks falling further behind in the competition.
