Russian expert Anatoly Fyodorovich Chernobay has arrived in Cairo to lead pole vault training at the Olympic Center in Maadi. He will oversee a specialized technical program for the national team athletes as part of the Egyptian Athletics Federation's plan, headed by Major Hatem Fouda, in preparation for upcoming international competitions, notably the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar.
Ministry Support to Benefit from the Russian Coach's Expertise
The collaboration with the Russian expert is supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, led by Minister Jawhar Nabil. This initiative is part of the federation's strategy to leverage international specialized expertise, which will help elevate the technical level of promising athletes, marking a new step toward preparing a generation of athletics champions and developing their training system according to the latest scientific and training methods.
The program will focus on the technical, physical, and tactical aspects of pole vaulting, emphasizing performance improvement, increasing physical and skill efficiency, and enhancing the technical details that are crucial for achieving qualifying standards for international competition.
Transferring the Russian Coach's Expertise to National Team Athletes
The federation also aims to ensure continuous benefits from the presence of the Russian expert by transferring his knowledge to Egyptian coaches, which will help build specialized national cadres and develop the player base in the discipline, ensuring that the benefits extend beyond the current training program period.
This initiative aligns with the Egyptian Athletics Federation's vision to create a comprehensive pathway for talent development, starting from player discovery and technical and physical qualification, through international participation and experience acquisition, ultimately preparing champions capable of competing in major championships.
Dakar holds special significance as it will be the first Youth Olympic Games held on the African continent, making it a pivotal point in the agenda for preparing Egyptian talents and providing promising athletes with the opportunity to compete with the best global talents at an early age.
The federation hopes that the new program will be a genuine addition to the history of Egyptian pole vaulting and that international expertise will transform into sustainable national knowledge, contributing to the formation of a new generation of champions capable of raising Egypt's flag in international arenas.
