The date for the decisive match between Morocco and Senegal to determine the "African Champion" is set.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) announced on Monday that it will issue its decision regarding Senegal's appeal against the withdrawal of the Africa Cup of Nations title and its reallocation to Morocco by the end of November.

It added: "CAS arbitrators decided to issue a comprehensive ruling that includes the legal foundations. This process will take several weeks, and the decision is expected to be announced at the end of November 2026".
In the final match held on January 18 in Rabat, Senegal won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Bamba Dieng in extra time, following a controversial end to regular time.
Several Senegalese players left the field in protest against a penalty awarded to Morocco in the final minutes, which was missed by Ibrahim Diaz after the match resumed.
However, in March, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) annulled the match result, deemed Senegal to have withdrawn, and awarded Morocco a 3-0 victory and the title.
The Senegalese federation is seeking to overturn the decision and declare itself the champion of the tournament, according to an official statement from the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The court's director general, Matthieu Reeb, stated that the pleadings are subject to a timeline agreed upon by the lawyers, noting that the arbitration panel consists of three arbitrators, chaired by Frenchman Gérald Simon, with German Ulrich Haas and Italian Luigi Fumagalli as members.
The court previously clarified that the arbitration panel would enter the deliberation phase after the hearing, confirming that the ruling would not be issued in October, without specifying a date for the announcement.
The court has multiple powers to rule on the case, including either upholding the decision in favor of Morocco, accepting the appeal and restoring the title to Senegal, or annulling the decision and returning the file to CAF.
The court stated in a statement that it held a closed hearing on the case at its headquarters in Lausanne on October 8.
The body responsible for resolving international sports disputes clarified that "the members of the arbitration panel have begun their deliberations and continue to do so".
It added: "CAS arbitrators decided to issue a comprehensive ruling that includes the legal foundations. This process will take several weeks, and the decision is expected to be announced at the end of November 2026".
