"CAS" Reveals Decision Timeline for Final
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has reported that its arbitration committee continues discussions regarding the appeal filed by the Senegalese Football Federation against the Confederation of African Football and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation concerning the final of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025. It clarified that the final ruling will not be issued before the end of November.
CAS added in a statement released on Monday that a hearing on this matter was held on October 8 at the court's headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, behind closed doors, before the arbitration committee began its discussions on the case.
Sources indicated that the arbitrators decided to issue a comprehensive ruling that includes the reasons and legal considerations for the decision, which will require several additional weeks, with the anticipated ruling expected at the end of November 2026.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport confirmed that any official information regarding this case will be announced exclusively through its official channels and website, pending the conclusion of discussions and the issuance of the final decision.
The Senegalese Football Federation had filed an appeal with CAS against the decision that awarded the Moroccan national team a 3-0 victory in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025, due to the departure of the "Lions of Teranga" players from the field during the final match, which led to the case being referred to the highest sports arbitration body in the world for a final resolution.
