The Egypt national team is preparing to finalize the inclusion of Osama Faisal ahead of the match against South Sudan.

The administrative staff of the Egypt national team has begun preparing the documents for Osama Faisal, the Al Ahly Bank striker, to travel to South Sudan, in case he is called up by the coaching staff before their departure tomorrow afternoon to Juba.

The Egypt national team will head to South Sudan tomorrow afternoon on a private plane to play their second match in the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Football Association has officially announced that Mohamed Salah, the captain of the national team, will be rested for the match against South Sudan, scheduled for next Tuesday in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Hossam Hassan decides to rest Mohamed Salah

The Football Association confirmed in a statement on its official page that the coaching staff of the Egypt national football team, led by Hossam Hassan, has decided to rest Mohamed Salah from the match against South Sudan due to the artificial turf of the playing field.

The statement clarified that an agreement was reached between the coaching staff and Mohamed Salah before the match against Angola to not participate in the match against South Sudan, as the coaching staff preferred this to protect the player.

Mohamed Salah leaves the national team camp

Global star Mohamed Salah, captain of the Egypt national team and Trabzonspor, has left the Pharaohs' camp before traveling to face the South Sudan national team, a decision made after full coordination between the player and the coaching staff led by Hossam Hassan.

This precautionary decision comes due to the upcoming match being held on a field covered with artificial turf, as playing on such surfaces poses challenges and raises concerns about the risk of muscle injuries that could affect the player's career with his club and national team, as seen previously in matches against Mauritania and Cape Verde.

The Egypt national team is preparing for a strong encounter against South Sudan in Juba on September 29, as part of the second round of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The "Pharaohs" began their qualifying campaign with a goalless draw against Angola at Cairo International Stadium.

It is worth noting that the "Juba" stadium, which will host the match, was established in 1962 and was reopened in its new form after renovations in 2024, under the special sponsorship of Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA. The stadium has a capacity of between 7,000 to 10,000 spectators, eagerly awaiting an exciting football match in the heart of Africa.
