The Egyptian Fencing Federation, led by Tarek El-Hosseiny, successfully organized qualification tests for referees to obtain the international badge, in collaboration with the International Fencing Federation, headed by Abdel Monem El-Hosseiny. The tests took place from October 28 to 31 at the Club Club in the New Administrative Capital.
Seventy-five referees participated in the tests, divided into 25 referees for each weapon, with the events held concurrently with the Republic Championship for boys and girls in individual and team categories.
The committee overseeing the tests included Pascal Tische, a member of the Executive Board of the International Fencing Federation and President of the European Federation; Olga Kogukari, a member of the Referees Committee of the International Federation; Kim Chang-jun, a member of the International Federation's Arbitration Committee; along with Ahmed El-Midani, Vice President of the Egyptian Fencing Federation and Director of the course.
The tests resulted in several referees from various nationalities successfully obtaining the international badge, including four Egyptian referees in foil, ten Egyptian referees, one Algerian referee, and one Tunisian referee in épée, as well as seven Egyptian referees and two Tunisian referees in sabre.
Ahmed El-Midani, the course director and Vice President of the Egyptian Federation, confirmed that organizing these tests represents a significant achievement for the federation and Egyptian sports, reflecting the trust Egypt enjoys with the International Federation and its ability to host and organize major international sporting events. He emphasized the importance of these tests in raising the level of officiating and preparing qualified Egyptian personnel for participation in international forums.
