National Volleyball Team Eyes Continental Final
The national volleyball team is set to face a fiery clash against their Cameroonian counterparts at 21:00 this Wednesday in the semi-finals of the African Championship taking place in Tunisia from September 13 to 25.
The "Greens" enter this battle seeking to qualify for the final and continue their dream of winning the continental title, which has eluded them for 33 years.
Historically, the national team holds two titles won in 1991 and 1993, the same number of titles held by the Cameroonian team, while Tunisia leads the scene with 11 titles, followed by Egypt with 8 continental titles.
The national players are counting on their continued brilliance in the African Championship after eliminating the defending champions, Egypt, in the quarter-finals in a thrilling match that was decided in extra time.
If they succeed in reaching the final for the second consecutive season after losing to Egypt in the 2023 edition, the national volleyball team will officially secure their qualification for the 2027 World Cup, with high hopes of clinching the continental title and representing Africa at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
