Burkina Faso loses one of its top cyclists in the 37th edition of the Tour du Faso. Second in the overall standings after the first stage, just eight seconds behind the leader, Souleymane Koné will not continue in the competition.

According to the Burkina Faso Cycling Federation (FBC), the Burkinabé cyclist fell during the second stage held on Saturday, October 31, between Ouagadougou and Koudougou. Injured at the hip, he is forced to withdraw from the event.

Following this withdrawal, Burkinabé hopes now largely rest on Paul Daumont and Soumaïla Ilboudo, who are respectively 50 and 57 seconds behind the yellow jersey, Tom Wijfje.

The Burkina Faso Cycling Federation expressed its support for Souleymane Koné and wished him a speedy recovery.
