Senegal has secured its place in the final of the UFOA A U17 tournament and, more importantly, in the final phase of the U17 AFCON. The Lionceaux triumphed over Guinea with a score of 3-0 in the semifinals on Thursday.
Guinea held on for a long time. However, they cracked in the final moments of the match. After a quiet start, Senegal opened the scoring in the 14th minute. Moussa Ndiaye headed in a free kick from Maguette Gueye.
Guinea began to find its rhythm. However, they could not break through the vigilance of Assane Sarr, who remained solid on his line. The Senegalese goalkeeper managed to keep his net clean until halftime.
Upon returning from the break, Senegal aimed to maintain its lead. Guinea appeared more threatening. Salif Camara and his teammates lacked precision in the final touch. Senegal attempted to withstand the opponents' assaults while also launching counterattacks. This approach paid off in the dying moments of the match. In the 89th minute, Souleymane Commissaire Faye scored an additional goal. With 5 minutes of added time, Guinea had a chance to turn the situation around. But they were ultimately stunned in the very first minute of this extra time. From a free kick, in a situation similar to the first goal, Cheikh Thior scored the third goal, extinguishing Guinea's hopes. The Syli also lost Aboubacar Kourouma, who was sent off for a foul committed as the last defender.
Senegal now has the opportunity to defend its title in the upcoming final phase of the U17 AFCON.
