UNAF (U20): Algeria secures a significant victory! (video)

The Algerian U20 team delivered an impressive performance this Sunday during the North African Football Union (UNAF) tournament, which serves as qualification for the upcoming U20 Africa Cup of Nations. After drawing against Tunisia in their opening match, the players coached by Hocine El Orfi responded perfectly against Libya.

The match, held at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismailia, Egypt, was uncertain for a long time. However, the young Algerians managed to break through the opposing defense after the break. Mohamed Seddik opened the scoring in the 57th minute, allowing his team to take the lead in the match.

Algeria then extended their lead thanks to their captain Yanis Sellami. The Olympique de Marseille player capitalized on an excellent cross from Mouhammad Valmy to score the second goal with a header in the 73rd minute.

The young Greens sealed their victory at the end of the match. Yassine Aïche scored the third Algerian goal in the 88th minute, before Libya pulled one back in stoppage time. The final score was 3-1 in favor of Algeria.

This victory allows Hocine El Orfi's men to reach four points after two matches. With a draw against Tunisia and a win against Libya, the Algerians temporarily sit at the top of the group. Egypt has three points, Tunisia one point, while Libya remains at zero points.

Following this significant victory, all eyes are already on the next challenge. Algeria will face Morocco on Wednesday, during the third matchday of the tournament.

This match is highly anticipated as the Moroccans arrive as the defending U20 world champions, following their victory at the last U20 World Cup.

For the young Greens, this match will be a crucial test in the quest for the two qualifying spots for the final phase of the U20 Africa Cup of Nations 2027, scheduled to be held in Ghana. Another successful performance would strengthen Algeria's position ahead of their final match against Egypt.
