Algeria: Rayan Zidane is gaining momentum in Germany

Rayan Zidane continues his progression at Bayer Leverkusen. Not selected for the current gathering of the Algerian youth teams, the attacking midfielder has been seen training with the professional team.

Usually a starter with Bayer Leverkusen's U19 team, Rayan Zidane took a new step this Thursday. The young Algerian attacking midfielder, born in 2009, was invited to train with the club's professional group, marking a promising first experience for the 17-year-old player.

This participation with the professionals comes as Zidane was not included by Amine Ghimouz for the current U17 gathering. He is also not part of the Algerian U20 team, which is currently in Egypt for the UNAF tournament serving as qualification for the U20 Africa Cup of Nations 2027. The Young Greens will face Tunisia, Libya, Morocco, and Egypt between September 24 and October 6.

Rayan Zidane has already secured his future at Bayer Leverkusen with a contract running until June 30, 2028, following an extension confirmed in June 2025. He now regularly plays with the U19s, despite being only 17 years old.

An Algerian international at youth levels, Zidane has already accumulated several caps with the U17 team. His presence at training with the first team confirms that Leverkusen continues to closely monitor his development.
