Zidane's entitlements with the French national team: contract details reveal surprises.
French media reported on Tuesday details of Zinedine Zidane's salary since he took over as head coach of the French national football team, noting that his contract includes a surprising element regarding how his income and bonuses related to major tournaments are calculated.
In contrast, the French Football Federation has established a system for larger bonuses during major tournaments, particularly the World Cup and the European Championship, meaning that the bulk of any increase in Zidane's income will be tied to the results achieved by the French national team in these competitions.
Thus, Zidane's contract is based on a fixed monthly salary, with the potential for significant income increases should the French national team achieve strong results in major tournaments.
French website "Foot Mercato", citing the newspaper "L'Équipe", stated that Zidane earns 300,000 euros per month before tax deductions, a figure close to that of his predecessor Didier Deschamps, despite the high figures previously circulated regarding the French coach's salary.
Zidane's contract is characterized by his waiver of image rights bonuses that Deschamps received after international matches, freeing him from some restrictions related to the French national team's commercial partners, even though he is tied to advertising contracts with several brands, most notably the German sportswear company "Adidas".
