Wydad Athletic Club has entered advanced negotiations with Tunisian coach Nasreddine Nabi to take over the team's technical management in the upcoming period, following the Portuguese Paulo Sergio, whose departure has become a strong possibility due to disappointing results at the start of the season.

According to information obtained by “Hesport” from a reliable source, club president Ibrahim Al-Asri has contacted Nabi and offered him the chance to lead the red team, as the management is convinced of his experience and coaching abilities after evaluating several local and foreign candidates for the position.

The same source indicated that the Tunisian coach has shown preliminary acceptance of the offer, with discussions between the two parties set to resume next Tuesday to discuss the expected contract details, in an effort to reach a final agreement on all terms.

The same source confirmed that Nasreddine Nabi expresses a desire to return to the professional league atmosphere, having previously experienced two stints in Morocco with FAR Rabat and Raja Casablanca, which could enhance Wydad's chances of concluding negotiations in their favor.

The source also noted that the Tunisian coach has explained to the club president his need for some time to build a cohesive group capable of competing strongly on both local and continental levels, a topic expected to be widely discussed in upcoming meetings.

These steps come amid continued unsatisfactory results for Wydad under the leadership of Portuguese coach Paulo Sergio Brito, after the team managed only a 1-1 draw against visiting Ittihad Amel Tiznit on Saturday evening at the Mohammed V Sports Complex in Casablanca.

The red team is struggling with an unsuccessful start to the league this season, having collected only five points, placing them ninth in the standings, which increases pressure on the current coaching staff and drives the management to seek options capable of returning the team to winning ways.
