Ex-Hearts of Oak defender Christopher Bonney has signed with Ugandan club Kitara FC.

Former Hearts of Oak defender Christopher Bonney has finalized a two-year transfer to Uganda Premier League club Kitara FC ahead of the 2026/27 season, as announced by the club. The 27-year-old versatile defender becomes Kitara's inaugural signing of the current transfer period. Bonney, who has played for Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko, and Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs in the Ghana Premier League, also had a spell with Panjsher Balkh in the top tier of Tajikistan before his move to Uganda. While Bonney primarily excels as a centre-back, he is also adept at right-back and defensive midfield, adding significant value to Kitara's lineup. Head coach Wasswa Bbosa is confident that the defender's experience and adaptability will bolster his squad as they gear up for an intense season on both domestic and continental stages. Kitara will take part in the Uganda Premier League, the Stanbic Uganda Cup, and the CAF Confederation Cup. This transfer marks Bonney's debut in Ugandan football after a career spanning the Ghana Premier League and international play, as he embarks on a new journey in East Africa.
