Galatasaray Finalizes Deal With Burnley For Ugochukwu

Galatasaray, the reigning champions of the Turkish Super Lig, have reached a deal with Burnley, a club in the Sky Bet Championship, for the acquisition of Nigerian midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has verified that both teams have completed the agreement, with Ugochukwu now poised to finalize the paperwork before his official announcement by the Istanbul club.

Romano reports that the transfer is valued at just below €30 million, marking it as one of the most significant signings for Galatasaray this summer.

“Here we go, confirmed: Lesley Ugochukwu will soon sign his contract at Galatasaray. Deal worth under €30m package from Burnley for the midfielder,” Romano noted on X.

The 22-year-old previously joined Burnley from Chelsea last summer, signing a five-year deal after the Clarets' promotion to the Premier League.

Despite joining with significant expectations, he is now ready for a new challenge in Turkey as Galatasaray acted quickly to secure his talents.

Ugochukwu spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Southampton, where he gained essential Premier League experience before going back to Chelsea.

A product of the prestigious Stade Rennais academy, Ugochukwu made his debut for the Ligue 1 club as a teenager and quickly became recognized as one of France’s most promising young midfielders. His outstanding performances led to a transfer to Chelsea in 2023.

Ugochukwu is anticipated to bring power, athleticism, and poise to Okan Buruk’s squad as Galatasaray gears up to defend their domestic title and compete in the UEFA Champions League next season.
