Kelechi Iheanacho is on the verge of finalizing a new two-year agreement with Scottish Premiership titleholders Celtic, as reported by Completesports.com.
Iheanacho had a remarkable inaugural season with Celtic following his arrival at the club on a free transfer.
The Nigerian forward initially signed a one-year contract with the Hoops, which included an option for the club to extend his tenure by another year.
At 29, he netted key goals against Kilmarnock, Dundee, Hibernian, and Motherwell, even though his season was hampered by injuries.
Although there has been interest from teams in Qatar and Turkey, sources indicate that Iheanacho is likely to secure his future with Celtic.
O’Neill Comments on Iheanacho
Celtic manager Martin O’Neill has recently stated that the club is actively looking to finalize a deal to bring back the striker.
“I’d like to do something with him, (Iheanacho),” O’Neill was quoted by Celtic Way.
“If we can address this relatively swiftly, at least he can begin pre-season, which is crucial for him. That’s something he missed out on last year.”
