The Tunisian delegation shone again at the Mediterranean Games in Taranto, Italy, by winning three additional medals in athletics on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, including a gold medal claimed by Marwa Bouzayani.
In the women's 3,000m steeplechase, the Tunisian athletes achieved an impressive one-two finish: Marwa Bouzayani took home the gold medal while Rihab Dhaouadi secured the silver in second place.
In the men's 5,000m race, Mohamed Amine Jhinaoui also won the silver medal after a closely contested final, finishing his race in 14 minutes 41 seconds 55, just behind Portugal's Marques Pinto (14 minutes 41 seconds 11).
These performances bring Tunisia's total to 23 medals (3 gold, 8 silver, and 12 bronze), as the competitions continue in Taranto until September 3.
