Madugu Reveals Final Roster for Super Falcons Ahead of WAFCON 2026

Head coach Justin Madugu of the Super Falcons of Nigeria has announced his final roster of 25 players for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) taking place in Morocco.

The final lineup, predominantly featuring players from the victorious WAFCON 2024 team, was shared today (Friday) on the official X account of the Super Falcons.

Included in the squad are notable players such as Asisat Oshoala, Chiamaka Nnadozie, Rasheedat Ajibade, Osinachi Ohale, Deborah Abiodun, Esther Okoronkwo, Jennifer Echegini, Folashade Ijamilusi, Rinsola Babajide, Tosin Demehin, Halimatu Ayinde, and Toni Payne.

Other names on the list include Francesca Ordega, Michelle Alozie, Chiwendu Ihezuo, Uchenna Kanu, Shukurat Oladipo, Christy Ucheibe, Rofiat Imuran, and Glory Ogbonna.

Unfortunately, experienced defender and WAFCON 2024 champion Ashleigh Plumptre did not make the squad due to an injury.

The Super Falcons are placed in Group C alongside Egypt, Zambia, and Malawi, with all their preliminary matches set to be played in Rabat.

They will kick off their tournament against Malawi on July 28, face Zambia on August 1, and conclude the group stage with a match against Egypt on August 5.

The Super Falcons achieved a remarkable 10th WAFCON title after a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over hosts Morocco in the 2024 final.

The WAFCON 2026 event also serves as the African qualifiers for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

Furthermore, the top four teams will secure spots in the World Cup, with two additional teams moving on to the inter-confederation play-offs.
