O’Neill Announces Fresh Celtic Deal for Iheanacho

Celtic's head coach Martin O’Neill has stated that the Hoops have presented an offer to Kelechi Iheanacho as discussions progress regarding the forward's return to the club, Completesports.com reports.

Iheanacho’s former contract with Celtic concluded at the end of last month.

The striker joined the Hoops last September on a one-year agreement, with the Scottish Premiership champions retaining an option to extend his stay for another season.

Even though injuries hampered his campaign and limited his playing time, the ex-Manchester City forward made a notable impact by netting crucial goals against Kilmarnock, Dundee, Hibernian, and Motherwell.

Celtic did not activate the extension option before it lapsed, which means a fresh contract must now be negotiated between the club and Iheanacho.

Despite interest from teams in Qatar and Turkey, the forward is now poised to continue his journey in Scotland.

In an interview with the Daily Record, O’Neill mentioned: “There’s an offer there to him (Iheanacho) at this minute. So we’ll see how that develops.”

The Nigeria international netted nine goals in 24 appearances in all competitions for Celtic last season.
