Nigerian defender Christian Akpan has inked a fresh four-year agreement with Belgian Pro League side KRC Genk, as reported by Completesports.com.
This new contract secures the adaptable defender's stay at the Cegeka Arena until 2030, highlighting the club’s confidence in his long-term prospects.
Akpan made his way to Genk in 2023, gradually progressing through the club’s youth system before being promoted to the senior team.
The 21-year-old delivered an outstanding first-team debut against Gent last season, showcasing a performance that earned him the Man of the Match accolade.

The promising defender has accumulated 59 appearances across all competitions for the Smurfs.
Genk Chief Praises Akpan

Players of his caliber enable coaches to adapt tactics mid-game if needed,” stated Head of Football Dimitri de Condé on the club’s official website.
He also reached another significant milestone last month by making his senior international debut for Nigeria in a 2-1 friendly loss to Portugal.
Akpan started the match before being substituted for Abdullahi Bewene in the 60th minute.
