Tennis: decisive point in New York, a look back at the US Open!

No Carlos Alcaraz and certainly no Jannik Sinner in the final: similar to the recent Roland-Garros, the 2026 US Open has not been kind to these two giants of the circuit!

The Spaniard, last year's (2025) champion, was defeated in the quarterfinals by American Ben Shelton. Meanwhile, the Italian could not capitalize on his Wimbledon victory in July 2026. Due to injury, he was forced to withdraw before the first serves in New York.

Is it Zverev's year?

This presents a chance for Alexander Zverev to clinch his second Grand Slam title this year (2026) and second in his career. The German, who has faced allegations of domestic violence, has already taken advantage of Alcaraz's and Sinner's misfortunes to emerge victorious in Paris last spring (2026), breaking free from his label as a perennial underachiever.

What about France?

As for France, with only one representative reaching the round of 16 and none advancing to the quarterfinals, it hasn't exactly shone at Flushing Meadows. The significant triumph of Arthur Fils in Cincinnati at the end of August 2026, just prior to the US Open, seems like a distant memory!
