Jawhar Nabil, the Minister of Youth and Sports, congratulated the players of the national junior athletics team after they won the title at the 12th Arab Athletics Championship for Under-18s, held in Egypt at the Olympic Center for National Teams in Maadi and Cairo International Stadium from September 5 to 9, under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Egypt Tops the Medal Table at the Arab Championship
The national team finished at the top of the medal table, concluding the competition with a total of 29 medals, including 11 gold, 8 silver, and 10 bronze, confirming Egypt's champions' status with an outstanding performance.
Jawhar Nabil expressed his delight at the national junior team's victory in the Arab Athletics Championship, praising the level displayed by the athletes throughout the competitions and their fighting spirit, which resulted in 29 diverse medals.
Team Results Highlight a Strong Talent Pool in Egypt
The Minister of Youth and Sports stated that these results reflect a large base of talent in Egypt capable of continuing to win titles and achieving greater results in the coming years. He added that the participation of 15 Arab countries in the championship added significant value to the competitions and provided athletes with a real opportunity for exposure and experience. He explained that hosting the championship in Egypt allowed them to compete strongly against various sporting schools, helping them to develop their skills and gain new experiences, in addition to the substantial value represented by the wide Arab participation in these competitions.
For his part, Major Hatem Fouda, President of the Egyptian Athletics Federation, expressed his gratitude to Jawhar Nabil for the support provided to the national team and the federation, which contributed to the championship's success and reflected Egypt's prestige. He affirmed that Egypt's victory in the Arab Championship was a well-deserved result based on the performance of the athletes, noting that the collection of 29 diverse medals reflects the progress in the athletes' levels and the success of the preparation phase for the championship.
The championship saw the participation of teams from 15 Arab countries: Jordan, Bahrain, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Iraq, Kuwait, Syria, Morocco, Tunisia, Djibouti, Oman, Lebanon, Libya, alongside the host nation, Egypt.
