Touba: “I am Algerian.. Representing the ‘Greens’ is a great honor”
Algerian international Ahmed Touba emphasized that wearing the “Greens” jersey is a source of great pride and happiness for him, stressing his deep connection to Algeria, which he sees as part of his identity.
Touba moved to French club Le Havre this summer, coming from Greek side Panathinaikos on loan.
Regarding his communication with some Algerian players who previously played at Le Havre, such as Himaad Abdelli and Victor Lhal, Touba replied: “No, because things happened really quickly, within just a few hours.. Panathinaikos had reached agreements with other clubs, and I was set to leave.”
The Algerian international added: “When I got this opportunity, things moved fast within five or six hours; I only had time to greet others and ensure there was harmony. Then I had to catch a flight the next day. Of course, I didn’t have time to contact anyone, and I didn’t fully grasp the situation. Today, I’m starting to understand what happened.”
Regarding his representation of the national team, Touba said: “I have 15 matches and one goal as well! What does that mean to me? A lot of pride and happiness.. Wearing your country’s jersey, whether in an official match, a friendly, or a tournament, is a great honor.”
Touba also clarified in a detailed interview with the official website of Le Havre that his choice of Algeria is rooted in his family origins, concluding his remarks by saying: “My parents are from Algeria, I am Algerian, we used to go there every year, and I grew up there, so to speak, we spent several months there. Of course, you learn how to live like them and with them.. It’s part of your identity.”
