Flamingos head coach Akeem Busari is optimistic that his squad will secure a spot in the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup despite facing a tough challenge from Benin Republic.
Nigeria will meet the Young Amazons in the second leg of their final qualifying round match at the Stade de Kégué in Lomé on Saturday (today).
The Flamingos currently hold a narrow 3-2 lead from the first leg after managing to clinch victory at the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne last weekend.
Benin Republic remains undefeated on home soil during the qualifiers and is eager to achieve a historic first appearance at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

Boosted by their strong performance in the first leg, Idah Azonsou’s team will be confident in their ability to overcome the deficit.

Busari, however, remains hopeful that his athletes possess the capability to complete the task and secure qualification for the tournament in Morocco.
“Matches of this significance always come with pressure. Naturally, we aimed for a more comfortable outcome at home, but this is still the same tie, just taking place in a different location,” Busari stated ahead of the match.
“We have focused on the players’ mindset and reminded them that they can perform anywhere. We’ve played in various venues before and have succeeded.
“We will approach the match with the appropriate attitude, and with God’s grace and a bit of luck on our side, Insha’Allah, we will emerge victorious and secure our spot.”
