World Cup 2026: Ghana's Alidu Seidu promises to recover after letdown

The Rennes right-back expressed his sentiments in a heartfelt message on X on Friday, revealing his disappointment while maintaining a forward-looking perspective. "There have been many disappointments, but this is far from the end," Seidu stated. "The only way to change my outlook is through hard work, and that’s precisely what I will continue to do every single day. I firmly believe that great things lie ahead; I will keep trusting in God's Plan. The Black Stars' journey concluded with a narrow 1-0 loss to Colombia in the Round of 32, where Jhon Arias's goal in the 14th minute made all the difference. Ghana wrapped up the tournament with one victory, one draw, and two losses, managing to score only two goals across four games. Seidu made the move to Rennes from Clermont Foot in January 2024 for an estimated fee of 11 million. He earned his first cap for Ghana in 2022 and has since become a consistent presence in the Black Stars lineup. Ghana will now focus on the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, set to commence in September.
