Arsenal is aware of the potential opportunity to acquire Julian Alvarez this summer, according to talkSPORT.
The Argentine forward has made it clear to Atletico Madrid that he wishes to be transferred.
While Barcelona is his favored choice, Atletico is hesitant to negotiate with their LaLiga opponents, having already dismissed an £86million offer and highlighting his £432m release clause.
Atleti was also infuriated by what appeared to be an insincere £129m proposal from Real Madrid earlier this summer.
talkSPORT has disclosed that Arsenal considered the idea of including Viktor Gyokeres as part of the negotiations with Atletico in the initial discussions.

It remains uncertain if any progress will be made, as although Atleti has an interest in the Swedish forward, Arsenal has yet to determine if they are willing to part with him, and discussions between the clubs regarding Alvarez are still in the early stages.
The Gunners continue to show interest in Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, and any pursuit of Alvarez would be treated as a distinct matter.
In other news, talkSPORT reports that Arsenal is engaged in promising discussions with Brugge concerning a transfer for Greek winger Christos Tzolis.
This follows the confirmation of Leandro Trossard's £17million transfer to Besiktas.
