Boungah Sent Off in Controversial Incident

Algerian striker Baghdad Boungah was sent off with a red card during the match between Al-Shamal and Al-Wakrah on Thursday, part of the fourth round of the Qatar Stars League.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw, but the focus shifted to the incident between Boungah and the referee in the final moments. The Algerian player engaged in a dialogue with the referee, resulting in a yellow card in the eighth minute of stoppage time.

Tension continued even after the final whistle, as Boungah protested against the referee before heading off the pitch. However, a gesture he made towards the referee caught the attention of the officiating crew.

After communication among the officials via headsets, the referee asked Boungah to stop, then returned to show him the red card, leading to Boungah leaving the field dismissed after the match.

It is expected that the coming days will reveal the punishment that will be imposed on Boungah, as the referee's report will determine how long the Algerian striker will be sidelined, based on the description of the incident that led to his dismissal.

It is worth noting that the draw brought Al-Shamal's points tally to 8, placing them second, while Al-Wakrah remains in tenth place with 2 points.
