Slimani Praises Change in "Greens" Coaching Staff
Algerian national team's all-time top scorer Islam Slimani praised the Algerian Football Federation's decision to change the national team's coaching staff.
The FAF decided to part ways with former coach Vladimir Petkovic after the team's exit in the second round of the 2026 World Cup, and recently appointed former international player Ibrahim Hamdani as the new coach of the "Greens," assisted by his former teammate Antar Yahya.
In an interview with French newspaper "L'Équipe," Slimani stated that this move will help restore the "Greens'" balance in the near future.
Regarding the changes in the coaching staff, he said: "We must be patient; that is the most important thing. We had the ability to perform much better in the World Cup... I believe the FAF is regaining its balance through this coaching change; it is a crucial shift for us."
The former international player added: "We must be able to support this generation well, and we need to develop it... I believe that in two or three years, we will have a strong squad."
