CAF Futsal Cup: Algeria Keeps Hopes Alive for Next Round

The Algerian national futsal team drew with Libya (2-2) in a match held on Wednesday evening, as part of the second round of Group A in the 2026 CAF Futsal Cup of Nations.

Coach Nourredine Ben Amrouch's squad entered the match looking to recover after losing the first round to Morocco by four goals to nil. Meanwhile, Libya aimed to regain its balance following a defeat against Zambia, which ended 3-1.

This draw earned Algeria its first point in the continental tournament, keeping its hopes alive for one of the two qualifying spots for the semi-finals, ahead of the final match against Zambia scheduled for Friday.

Group A consists of Algeria, Morocco, Libya, and Zambia, while Group B includes Egypt, Angola, Mozambique, and Tanzania.

The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals.

The current edition of the tournament is taking place in Morocco from October 12 to 21, featuring eight teams.

The upcoming match against Zambia is crucial for the national team, which is seeking its first win in the tournament to enhance its chances of reaching the semi-finals in its debut appearance at the CAF Futsal Cup of Nations.
