Badou Zaki, the head coach of the Jordan national football team, revealed the list of players selected for the upcoming friendly matches against Syria and Venezuela during a press conference held today in the capital, Amman. This is part of the preparations for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.
The squad includes 28 players, combining experience and fresh talent, featuring several who contributed to the national team's remarkable success in previous Asian Cup tournaments and the qualification for the 2026 World Cup in the United States. Among them are Yazid Abu Layla, Abdullah Al-Fakhouri, Yazan Al-Arab, Saad Al-Rousan, Mohannad Abu Taha, Nizar Al-Rashdan, Mousa Al-Tamari, Mahmoud Mardhi, and Ali Alwan, along with others representing a new generation of players capable of bringing vitality and dynamism to the team. Notable mentions include last season's top scorers in the Jordanian football league, Ahmad Al-Arsan and Youssef Abu Jalboush, as well as Tamer Bani Awda, Ahmad Asaf, and Youssef Qashi.
The Jordanian national team is expected to begin training next Tuesday at the Nashama preparation center in Amman, as they gear up for their first friendly match against the Syrian national team on the 27th of this month at King Abdullah II Stadium, followed by a match against Venezuela on the evening of Tuesday, October 6, at the same venue.
This training camp is part of the Jordanian national team's preparation program for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, where they have been drawn into Group B alongside Uzbekistan, Bahrain, and North Korea.
The 2027 AFC Asian Cup will take place from January 7 to February 5 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with the Jordanian national team set to kick off their campaign against Uzbekistan on the evening of January 8 at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah. They will then face Bahrain on January 13 at the same stadium, concluding their group stage matches against North Korea on January 17 at Imam Muhammad bin Saud University Stadium in Riyadh.
