Gabon national team squad for the matches against Morocco and Niger

Sébastien Migné, the new coach of the Gabon national team, has revealed his first squad since taking over the team known as "the Panthers," marking a new era following the departure of former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gabonese team is preparing to face Morocco and Niger during the upcoming international break this month, as part of the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, set to take place next year in Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.

The French coach has selected 24 players for the international break in September, including experienced names like Denis Bouanga, Mario Lemina, and Gélor Kanga.

The Gabon national team will kick off their qualifying campaign with a tough away match against Morocco next Friday, before hosting Niger on September 29, in Group A, which also includes Lesotho.

These matches will be Migné's first official tasks since taking the position, coming after Aubameyang's decision to retire from international play, marking a significant shift for the Gabonese team that he represented for many years as captain.

Aubameyang announced his retirement from international football after Gabon's early exit from the group stage in the last edition of the Africa Cup of Nations held in Morocco, where they finished last in their group without any points after losing all three matches against Ivory Coast, Cameroon, and Mozambique.

Defenders: Anthony Oyono, Jérémy Oyono, Philippe Ndindja, Jack Ikumi, Aaron Abindongui, Alex Mukito, Jonathan do Marcolino, Brad Mantsonga, Michel Mboula.

Midfielders: Mario Lemina, Henrique do Marcolino, Gélor Kanga, André Boku, Ibrahim Ndong.

Forwards: Teddy Andami, Denis Bouanga, Chaves Babika, Orfi Mbina, Jim Alefina, Jordi Ella, Junior Ivagi.
