Hadjam: "There are still aspects to improve" (video)

Following the victory against Zambia (3-1), Jaouen Hadjam shared his thoughts on this first match for the Greens in the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. The Algerian defender praised the home success while admitting that the team still has room for improvement, particularly in both phases of play.

Algeria started its qualifying campaign perfectly by defeating Zambia on Friday night in Tizi-Ouzou. This victory is crucial for Brahim Hemdani's men, allowing them to begin this new adventure with three points in hand.

For Jaouen Hadjam, who scored Algeria's first goal, the key was to start with a win in front of the local crowd. “It was a great match. Winning at home is always appreciated. There are still aspects to improve, whether in defense or attack, but we focus on the positives and continue to progress,” said the defender after the match.

The player also highlighted the importance of the supporters' backing, particularly present in Tizi-Ouzou to encourage the Greens during this first encounter. For him, this passion is a constant when the national team plays on Algerian soil.

“At home, everywhere in Algeria, the atmosphere is always excellent”, he insisted.

Hadjam also discussed the first weeks of collaboration with Brahim Hemdani. The new coach is striving to create an atmosphere of trust within the group and to allow players to approach these qualifiers in the best possible conditions.

“The new coach is always looking to give us confidence and to start these qualifiers well”, explained the Algerian international.

Finally, the defender expressed his expectations for the upcoming match in Burundi. An away game that could present several challenges, but one that the Greens plan to prepare for seriously.

“The next match against Burundi will be difficult, but we will train well this week for this appointment”, concluded Hadjam.

After this good start against Zambia, Algeria will look to continue this momentum on Tuesday.
