Hicham Hanfi, the former star of Al Ahly, spoke about Egypt's victory over South Sudan in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Hanfi stated during a television interview that Egypt's win against South Sudan brings reassurance to the national team, praising the performance of the Pharaohs.
He added that Egypt dropped points against Angola, but the victory over South Sudan was impressive not because of the strength of the opponent, but due to the difficult conditions of the match, including the pitch and the hot weather.
The former Al Ahly star continued that the Egyptian league is good and produces outstanding players, expressing his happiness with the performance, the win, and the three points, as points are crucial in the qualifiers.
He clarified that the draw with Angola was a possible outcome, as they are a good team with talented players and a competent coach in Aliou Cissé, who studied the Egyptian team well.
He confirmed that the top spot in the group is guaranteed for Egypt, which will qualify as group leaders and succeed in achieving victories in the upcoming matches.
He concluded that the decision to field Osama Faisal against South Sudan was a wise choice by Hossam Hassan, and he is pleased to see many players performing well with the national team during this period.

Egypt achieved a significant victory over South Sudan, winning 5-0 in the match held between the two teams on Tuesday at the Juba National Stadium in the second round of the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
Egypt took the lead with the first goal in the 35th minute through Mostafa Ziko, followed by Omar Marmoush scoring the second goal for the Pharaohs in the 49th minute. Ibrahim Adel netted the third goal for Egypt in the 76th minute, and Marmoush added the fourth goal in the 80th minute, before Hamza Abdel Karim scored the fifth goal in the 90+2 minute of the match.
